Matthew Grant, PsyD., HSPP

Dr. Grant is a licensed clinical psychologist (Psy.D., HSPP) based in Indianapolis, with more than 21 years of experience. He offers a range of services: consultation, diagnostic intake assessments (biopsychosocial), integrative psychotherapy, and — importantly — a trauma- and depression-focused therapy: Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Although relational psychoanalytic psychotherapy is his core orientation, his approach is integrative — combining evidence-based therapies such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), SFBT (Solution-Focused Brief Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IPT (Interpersonal Therapy), and ART, depending on client needs.

Top specialties:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Relationship issues

Other areas of expertise / issues treated:

  • Trauma / PTSD

  • Grief

  • Stress or life transitions

  • Emotional / relational difficulties (family conflict, codependency, interpersonal issues)

  • Mood disorders (e.g., bipolar)

  • Self-esteem, identity issues

  • Addiction & behavioral issues (e.g., sexually compulsive behaviors)

  • Sleep / insomnia

  • Issues around sexuality / sexuality-related stress (including LGBTQ+ identity)

Dr. Grant is especially well-suited for individuals seeking depth-oriented therapy — people interested not just in symptom reduction, but understanding underlying patterns, relational dynamics, and early attachment.  His orientation is strongly informed by relational psychoanalytic psychotherapy — meaning, the therapeutic relationship plays a central role; early attachment and relational history are seen as significant in shaping current difficulties.

Dr. Grant combines that with evidence-based therapies for flexibility — which allows him to tailor interventions to individual clients rather than doing a one-size-fits-all approach. For people dealing with trauma, grief, depression, he offers Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) — a structured therapy with empirical support. He uses an initial consultation (1–3 sessions) to assess needs and collaboratively determine treatment goals.

You may consider Dr. Grant if you seek longer-term, insight-oriented therapy to explore deep patterns (relationships, attachment, relational dynamics, trauma). Want a therapist who can combine depth-oriented psychodynamic work with practical, evidence-based therapies depending on need. Are dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, relational issues, grief, identity issues, or interpersonal difficulties. Prefer a collaborative, flexible approach.
